SYLK® lubricant is created from kiwi vine extract from kiwifruit orchards in the Pukekohe area of New Zealand. A byproduct of the kiwifruit harvesting operation, the vines are normally left to decompose on the ground, offering no other viable use aside from nutritional benefits from plant waste. We extract the kiwi gum and utilize this significant ingredient that would otherwise be wasted. Once processed, we compost the vines and recycle them back to the orchard in concentrated form.

Aqua (Deionized Water)

Kiwifruit vine extract – (Polysaccharides) The Kiwifruit Vine extract yields a high amount of pectic polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are polymeric carbohydrate molecules. When extracted from the kiwi vine, polysaccharides are “film-like” and provide an exceptional form of lubrication and are similar to the natural lubricant produced by the body. SYLK is made with 100% purified natural kiwi vine extract.

Vegetable glycerin: is a humectant, which is a substance that attracts moisture to the skin. **See our FAQ on glycerin**

Xanthan gum – is a widely used food-grade ingredient used as a thickening agent.

Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Citrate – Trace amounts of preservatives to prolong the shelf life of SYLK.

Citric Acid  – Intended to adjust the pH of SYLK.

Flavonoids (Grapefruit Seed Extract, GSE) – Flavonoids are groups of plant metabolites that are found in many fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids have been reported to have anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities and is used to preserve SYLK.
